MEDITATION

Our Mindfulness, Meditation and Movement program is a celebration of life in all its fullness. It is a program developed by the Rev Frances Bartlett and designed to energize and refresh the body, mind and soul of each participant.

Frances is a qualified Yoga teacher and a Deacon in the Uniting Church.

Frances trained as a Dru Yoga teacher in 2009-2012 and found that Dru Yoga promotes wellness on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Frances finds it particularly good for stress release in her work as a chaplain and for lifting energy through gentle exercises, even at the end of a long day.

From the practice of Dru Yoga, Frances has developed Christian Mindful Movement and Meditation (MM&M).This gentle practice helps us to get in touch with our spirit – our inner life, through mindfulness on the breath it promotes positive thoughts and self-affirmation and invites us to “let go“ of those things in our life which are no longer necessary or helpful.

The practice of MM&M resonates with Christian values and teachings. In particular, the practice helps us to open our hearts to be more compassionate, loving and forgiving: both towards others, and ourselves as we draw from the divine source of life – God – or whatever name we prefer – as Jesus taught us.   In this way, the practice becomes like an embodied prayer.

One of the most important aspect of Mindful Movement & Meditation I believe is that it helps us to let go of tension and anxiety and promotes peace – peace with in us, peace amongst us and peace in the world.

It is suitable for all ages and range of mobility.

You are welcome to come along and give it a try. I hope you might experience some of these elements in your practice plus improved flexibility, balance and calm.

TASTE AND SEE PRAYER RETREATS

The ‘stillpoint’ is a point beyond the human mind… it rests in the spiritual domain of the heart.

‘Contemplation is the highest expression of man’s [woman’s] intellectual and spiritual life. It is that life itself, fully awake, fully active, fully aware that it is alive. It is spiritual wonder. It is spontaneous awe at the sacredness of life, of being. It is gratitude for life, for awareness, and for being. It is a vivid realisation of the fact that life and being in us proceed from and invisible, transcendent and infinitely abundant source. Contemplation is, above all, as awareness of the reality of that Source’. Thomas Merton. (New Seeds of Contemplation)
